UNIREF DIPLOMA

The main objective of UniRef is to provide free access to higher education and professional vocational training to refugees in order to facilitate their social and professional integration.

Education promotes social inclusion, cultural diversity, reduces poverty, and constitutes an extremely valuable tool when trying to improve and rebuild the future prospects of young refugees and the host community. For reconstruction and economic development, a « solid human capital » is needed, and education provides it.

This is why our aim is to avoid a generation to be sacrificed by enabling people who have dropped out of school to have a chance to continue their education.

In Jordan, UniRef is officially accredited by the Jordanian Ministry of Tertiary Education, the Jordanian Ministry of Labour and the Jordanian Ministry of Health. Jordan UniRef’s students are given the chance to pass an official exam with the proper training.

All academic programs are completely free of charge for the students. As the burden of tuition fees is removed since covered by UniRef, the access to the decent work is possible and reduces the population’s vulnerability and poverty..

Between 2014 and 2017, UniRef’s mission took place in Burundi and sought to provide free access to tertiary education to Congolese (DRC) refugees.

Since 2018, UniRef has been working on the implementation of its second mission in Jordan to provide free access to tertiary education to Syrian refugees, as well as to the host community.

In 2023, UniRef implemented a new mission in Poland for Ukrainian refugees. In partnership with a local foundation, UniRef provides medical polish language courses. The refugees who used to work as medical staff in Ukraine will be able to overcome the language barrier and find a job in their host country.

Our 2021 programs are divided in 4 curricula: Healthcare, Agribusiness, Computer Sciences and Mobile Maintenance.

In addition to 1 common and mandatory curriculum: Youth as Agents of Behavioral Change (YABC), an initiative of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

Our 2023 new program designed by an Ivy League University is focused on web programming and leads to a professional certificate recognized worldwide.

All students who have successfully completed their fast-track cursus are rewarded with a unique degree during a graduation ceremony, which takes place at the end of the academic year.

Thanks to this academic melting-pot environment Syrian refugees will experience through their 12-month formation, they will then have better assets to become not only an included member of the Jordan social life, but also to access Jordanian and neighboring countries’ labor markets.

Indeed, freshly graduated students will have access to an officially recognized diploma by the Jordanian Ministry of Tertiary Education, the Jordanian Ministry of Labor and the Jordanian Ministry of Health.

They will also have access to UniRef placement office to facilitate the contact between alumni and employers and program-related companies.
